It is great point that there is no one-size-fits-all strategy, when it comes to international business. International entrepreneurs need a unique tailor made strategies which are focusing on a particular countries lifestyle and culture to launch a successful product line or service in every new foreign venture.

I love your idea of choosing a partner who is having the same passion. This would definitely remove the burden of balancing professional and personal life from entrepreneur. According to my point of view, first of all an entrepreneur should be self-motivated; He/she should not need anybody or anything other than their ambition to trigger them off.

Great post! The point about multiculturalism is spot on. With so much potential for misunderstandings, it's really important to know as much as you can about the host country and its customs. In fact, there is a whole study about business etiquette in different cultures, and it's very useful for those doing business in foreign countries. Knowing the protocols for running meetings, business attire, rituals for treating business cards, dining out, etc. can be helpful.

While it is fascinating to hear about the most famous entrepreneurs out there, I think the stories of everyday people achieving success in their own business are just as interesting. These people achieve a certain flexibility in their life and get to work on things they are passionate about. In my opinion, they also tend to be more satisfied and in generally happier than people who work as employees of a company. Financial independence is another benefit.

One case I really like is that of a friend who grew tired of her 9-to-5 so she started a business to capitalize on her bookkeeping skills. She helps other small businesses and non-profits with their accounting needs and during tax season she does home tax prep for individuals. This has grown to provide enough imcome for her that she has been able to quit her traditional job and work from home. She realized what skills she had and how to leverage them to achieve her goal: a more satisfying career and a more flexible schedule to be able to spend time with her family.

I think the key is for people to realize that they can change their life through their business. Many are too scared to follow through on their dreams, but those who do find that the reward is worth it.
